Istanbul to host 2012 World Athletics Indoor Championships

Turkish largest city Istanbul will host 2012 World Athletics Indoor Championships, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported on Saturday.Turkey was a candidate to host the championships in 2010, however the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) chose Qatari capital Doha as the bid winner, according to the report.It added that the IAAF executives visited Istanbul on November 5, met Turkish State Minister Murat Basesgioglu and visited sports facilities before making the decision.
